He's Coming Back

The word on the network news sports reports is that mark mcgwire is coming back to the Cardinals as the hitting coach next year. The club also stated that he will not hide from the steroid issue. Aside from the fact that he was basically a slugger who couldn't hit his weight, does this mean that this time he WILL speak about the past?

Any thoughts/opinions about the upcoming League Championship Series' ? It would be nice to see Torre's Dodgers play the Yankees in the World Series, but I have some doubts about the Yankees. Even though they swept the Twins, the could have very easily lost games 2 & 3. Plus, the Angels have had their number. Plus, they have no clue what to do with Joba. The NY media have pretty much crowned the Yankees with the world championship already, but if the should fall flat on their faces against Anaheim they will be calling for Girardi and/or Cashman to be fired.

Redskins Randy Thomas

The Redskins right guard Randy Thomas is out for the season again - right torn triceps, a complete tear of the muscle (the newspaper said this, I think it would be the tendon) from off the bone. 2 years ago he tore his left triceps (not sure if it was completely off the bone or not).
And all the NFL players are clean supposedly and yet my (limited) understanding is this kind of injury is not seen without steroids; with them the muscle becomes stronger than the tendons can take and tears are not uncommon.
Any thoughts?

Did anyone watch the UFC show Saturday night? I didn't see it, but heard about Brock Lesnar's actions after the fight. Sounds like a real class act, and I mean that sarcastically. Was wondering if anyone saw the fight and if it was as ludicrous as it sounds.

Seems a gym in London has started a new workout plan. Instead of lifting iron weight you can lift people. (For some odd reason just got a Soylent Green flashback, maybe after workout nutrition!) Check out the story and video.

I can see it now. Instead of his clients carrying a sandbag around the block they have to carry Max Bob. That would be one weight you definitely wouldn't want to just drop when you got too tired.

IF Bonds is the juicehead he reportedly is once he's through steroid withdrawal he's gonna look more like Jimmy Walker than Robby Robinson. The same thing thats happened to Platz, Waller, Columbo, Padilla, etc., etc.. Its a biological fact that once you've supressed endogenous hormonal production long enough (as most pros do) your enodcrine system is NEVER, repeat NEVER the same. The one & only reason Ah-nuld looks halfway decent he because he has the $$$ to basically buy himself a new cardiovascular system and payoff some quack to write scipt after scipt for test/gh. He probably shoots more blanks than a hollywood prop pistol.

It looks like the Yankees will land the player that they coveted above all others during the off-season. The numbers, like the player, are large. $161M over seven years. Not bad work ( if you can get it.) Is any pitcher worth the gamble of a seven year contract? Can Sabathia play well and adapt in New York? Will he hold up? ( At 300 pounds, there seems to be the potential to incur some sort of injury.) Will he put people in the seats of the new ( partially taxpayer funded) stadium? Will he get the Yankees back to the World Series? And, most important, will he be able to accomplish the most important tasks-----beating the Sox and taking headlines away from the Mets?

Since this is the big story in New York, I thought I would ask the opinion of the members of the inner circle: "What do you think of Burress shooting himself and the subsequent revelations that his teammate hid the weapon, the team failed to notify the league and authorities, and contacted a doctor who treated him who did not notify authorities, a second doctor at the hospital failed to notify law enforcement??
I just wonder if we will see yet another example of a famous athlete receiving special treatment under the law after committing a crime?

Last week, J.P. Hayes, a golfer, lost out on a chance for a full-time spot on the 2009 PGA Tour. It wasn't because he didn't play well enough. He had shot a 71 in the second round and was on his way to a top 20 finish, which would have put him in the final qualifying round in December. However, when he returned to his hotel room, he had realized that the ball he had been using was not on the approved list, sanctioned by the U.S. Golf Association ( it had been a prototype ball, and not approved.) He notified an official, turned himself in, and was disqualified.
I have never golfed in my life ( unless you count miniature golf), but it seems to me like there can't possibly be that much of a difference among the various balls used. Nevertheless, Hayes was disqualified, and lost his big chance to make the pro tour. Many reporters, who have covered the story, have questioned why he would turn himself in. Seems like the N.F.L is wide open this year. Pats hurtin,Cowboys hurtin. Noone looks that much better than anyone else. A team looks good one week,lousy the next.Who's gonna step up and win it this year?????
