I just got and watched the video Get A Grip. Joe Kinney's video about closing the # 4 captains of crush gripper and other training topics. This guy is a
complete freak of nature (mean that in a good way) He's about 5'5'' 170 pounds!!!!! he claims that as part of his routine he would wake up
every morning at 6 am before breakfast and perform 30-60 reps in the squat with 335 and eventually got up to doing 440 for 60 reps!!!!!!!!everyday!!!!!!! then
he would perform his "real" workouts later at night. Meaning that that wasn't even his squat workout for the day!!!!! if it was squat day he
would still wake up that morning and bang out the 30-60 with whatever weight he was at then squat again later. He claims this made his body release
testosterone and enabled him to acheive the superhuman task of closing the #4 gripper. I just can't see how this is possible!!!! there is no way he ever
used steroids. 440 for 60 reps at 170 body weight!!!!!!! I wont...

adjustable implent for training the WOB and WFD and even Olympic style hammer throws. It is called "The Ballistica" and is plate loaded, comes with a
ring and chain to adjust the length. Retails for $89 I think. Thought I'd share.

Does anyone do one handed deadlifts as part of their routine?
I added them to my routine and I hooked on doing them.
Any advise on Reps/Sets and on range of motion? ie; from the deck to just above the knees.
I started doing 5x5s, but there debilitating and I'm afraid it will lead to overtraining.
I focusing on them as an exercise to build grip and wrist strength, not as a major lower body movement.

Ok guys I have been meaning to post this for awhile. I actually started once but because I had not signed in it didn't save it when I tried to post.
Anyway, I competed in my first strongman comp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba over Labor Day weekend. I will go over the events in order and what I think I could
have/should have done to improve my performance.

None of the events were what I would call "heavy" so speed and conditioning were what it took to win. The first event was a Keg Carry and Sled Pull.
The Keg was a full beer keg (165lbs) carried for 100ft then a 185lbs sled pulled back 100ft. I had absolutely no problem picking up and carrying the full keg.
I smoked the guy I was up against. However, I did not warm up properly at all. In fact I didn't even warmup! BIG mistake. I thought that since the weights
were light I wouldn't need to. I was wrong. On the sled drag my lower thighs were BURNING! I mean they turned to jelly! I could have pulled the...

Making an Atlas Stone

If anyone is interested in making an Atlas Stone this is a GREAT site:

Lessons Learned:
I followed the directions, used a kids bouncing ball from Target and instead of cement used concrete. Little did I know there was a difference. The hardest
part is the plaster mold. USE A LOT OF COATS!! After a failed trial with a smaller ball I realized I needed to use 2 or 3 coats of plaster. It ended up
being about 1.5 to 2 inches thick. I also ran out of concrete and had to make an emergency run to Home Depot, so make sure to buy 2 or 3, 80 lbs. bags
depending on the size of the ball. I believe mine was 46" in diameter.

Once the concrete was dry I used cement filler to fill in the gaps and make a smoothed out ball. Then used cement sealer when the filler had set. The ball
ended up running me...
