Well that was what I was happily greeted with by a young lass near where I live who'd forgotten my name. Didn't exactly make my day. I did tell her my name and think I made her uncomfortable by saying that that's not really a nice way to greet some one.

I'm currently 247lb at 6'0 with a lage frame. The other year I was down at 200lb and people were worrying I looked too thin. Bascially i'm a big bloke anyway but do need to loose a good bit.

Since starting my job I haven't been eating well, though I have been training, and I guess it's telling. One problem is I work with kids who are out of mainstream school for various behavioural reasons. Part of what we do is eat breakfast with them, often dinner and cook with them and eat it too. And there's no doubt that I love my food. And if I get tired and unwell I love it even more, though, you couldn't call what I eat then food!

I'm currently training for rowing on a wednesday night, racing at...

I did a search on this, but didn't come up with much on the forums. If someone is looking more for weight loss/conditioning more than muscle gain how would you alter their workout? I have read some articles that state you can't lose weight and pack on muscle at the same time since the caloric requirement for gaining muscle will also add weight. Thought I would tap some of the minds on here for input. I know one of the most important exercises to get used to is the push-away.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Keith.

reasons I should be eating more.I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for non-veggie lovers such as myself to include more in my diet.I eat stuff
like peas, carrots corn, and some potatoes, but it is some others I can't seem to acquire a taste for-squash,eggplant and so on.

Paleo Diet

Has anyone ever tried or had luck with the Paleo Diet? A couple of years ago, I was researching dietary approaches to digestive disorders and started to form
some pretty strong opinions about how one should eat for optimal health and disease prevention, regardless of whether or not they've currently got
digestive problems. More reading led me to realize that almost all of this information was consistent with the Paleo Diet. This diet or way of eating
essentially says "if it wasn't available 10,000 years ago, our bodies haven't evolved to handle it properly and we shouldn't be eating
it". We should be eating meat, eggs, fruits, vegetables, and nuts and avoiding foods like grains, sugars, and processed foods. The goal isn't to
lose weight. In fact, I'm almost always trying to get stronger and put on lean bodyweight. As long as I keep my calories up using lots of nuts, eggs, and
meat, I seem to be able to at least maintain my bodyweight.

I'm interested in hearing about how you structure your eating.

I generally eat three good meals per day, and often, but not always, have a light meal before bed. I don't count calories, or grams of protein/fat/carbs,
but I do try to eat each macronutrient at each meal. I don't deny myself any kind of food, but tend to limit the amount of sweets/puddings I eat to 1 or 2
per week.

My daily meals go something like this:

Breakfast - four poached eggs on two slices of buttered wholemeal toast, or a large bowl of oatmeal with semi skimmed milk and a spoonful of sugar, cup of
coffee (milk/no sugar - thanks)
Lunch - two large tuna and mayo sandwiches on wholemeal bread, a piece of fruit, mug of tea
Dinner - a couple of chicken breasts/steak/fish, rice/potato/pasta, a couple of types of veggies or a salad - occasional sweet (usually on a Sunday)
Supper - two slices...

The Beat Goes On: Heart Health and Nutrition

Although exercise is one of the best ways to improve heart health, even
athletes are not immune from heart disease. You have undoubtedly heard
reports of marathon runners who die of heart attacks and football
players who have strokes. Women, like men, need to pay attention to
heart disease; it is the #1 killer of women, higher than all cancers
combined.

To address the topic of heart disease among active people, the Sports
and Cardiovascular Nutrition practice group of the American Dietetic
Association (www.SCANdpg.org) featured heart health as the theme of
their annual convention (April 2008, Boston). The following bits of
information from that conference might inspire you eat wisely to keep
your heart beating for a long and healthful lifetime.
• First of all, when it comes to heart...
