Maybe if done IOC style with samples kept and periodically retested as new substances are recognized. MLB testing protocols are defined in the
collective bargaining contract and may exclude retesting old samples. Using new samples after a specific substance has been announced will lead to the
obvious. Of course there was Ben Johnson who got caught a second and final time after he switched brands.

Aaron's record to me is not a record just for home runs, but for consistancy, stick-to-itiveness, and turning a blind eye to the racism he endured. Nobody
has touched the Babe's record of rate of home runs and nobody like that has pitched in the majors, much less in the World Series, much less with an ERA
near 1. And for Maris - well as long as he had that asterick by his name and now to be ousted by cheats - I ain't no Maris fan (and definately NOT a
Yankees fan), but you have to say he has never been treated right by MLB - what a shame!
Everybody keeps saying "drug test, drug test", but if there is another "the Clear", then it won't be picked up until the testing gets
up to speed.
If people want an exciting baseball game, there are hundreds each year at your local Little League field.

Yankee fans will definitely not care as A-Fraud approaches the records- both the legitmate one of 755, and then the bogus one of ***. Fans will conveniently
forget all his other baggage as long as he keeps hitting the ball out of the park----and judging by the way balls are flying out of the new stadium, all he has
to do is stay relatively healthy and the records are all but a guarantee. And if he ever leads them to a championship, a big "if," then they will
name a candy bar after him.

problem is noone really cares. most people could care less about the integrity and legitimacy of the game. I don't see a media blitz or public outcry for
restoration of those records, and there should be. All I ever hear is "should so and so be eligible for the Hall of Fame" and alot say YES. If I was
approaching any record I would have myself drug tested and put it on public record

to the random tests performed. Provided, of course, that the testing is legitimate, supervised by an outside agency, and all-inclusive. I would definitely be
in favor of seeing Aaron's and Maris' records restored. But I clearly remember getting strange responses back in 1998 when I would tell anyone who
would listen that McGwire is definitely NOT clean, and Sosa probably isn't either. But Baseball and the public wanted so desperately to embrace something
or someone. Everyone turned a blind eye to what was going on, and now it's too late to bring any legitimacy back to the game.

The sad part is that for some people it IS a big shocker. Ten years ago when he and McGwire were shattering the records NOBODY wanted to believe that he was
juiced. When they found the Andro in McGwire's locker the suspicions started growing but the general public wanted to blissfully ingore all the signs. And
Sosa got a free pass. Nobody wanted to associate him with even a hint of juicing. And Sosa was smart, and this I give him credit for, he was gregarious,
accomodating to the media, friendly with the fans, and was able to charm ( or con ) everyone. New York City even gave him a parade in his honor! He was
embraced as a role model. Even when he was called to testify before congress with his other ( druggie ) cronies, he was smart enough not to say anything that
would come back to bite him in the backside----he simply pretended to not understand English. Palmeiro outright lied, McGwire was not there to talk about the
past, and Sosa no habla ingles.

I just want to see who...
