I pulled out the book to see if there was anything directed towards older lifters and there are several sections entitled 'the fountain of youth'. It all seems to make sense but I am unsure about the workload. If I remember correctly, there are 8-10 exercises that are done in order with 6 sets each; the first two sound like warmup sets. They are to be performed in a 'circuit' manner in that there are no rest periods between exercises nor between sets.
I am used to a more 'HIT' method or at least something with less volume but McCallum is a great resource. I am 45 years old and am reasonable in that I don't expect to compete, gain 30lbs. of muscle, etc. I would like to improve my health and gain back some of the muscle I had only 5 years ago.
Is this the right approach?
Thanks in advance and thanks for the advice re: my back. I have been to the gym and have not experienced any discomfort at all. In fact, my lower back feels just fine!
