I saw in another post someone mentioned Co-Q 10. Was wondering what your experience is with this supplement. What are its benefits?

Supposedly it helps support cardiovascular health, by helping lower blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. I guess it can't hurt. I don't remember
reading about any negative side effects. But I would think that for it to work, it would have to be incorporated into a total nutrition and exercise program.
In other words, you can't go out and eat McDonalds and ice cream and then pop a couple of CoQ-10s and think that everything is going to be all right.

I would be shocked if anything over the counter (no prescription) would make a bit of difference.

I'm sure that there are some products that are helpful, but as far as being able to do everything that they claim, I would be a bit skeptical. Again, I
would think that a common sense approach would be best. If you eat healthy, usually just a good multi-vitamin/mineral, and perhaps a good protein powder would
be enough. If you want to try some of the cardio supplements, if you took them sensibly and in moderation, I can't see it doing any damage. Of course,
I'm not a nutritionist or dieitician, I only can speak from my experience. What I would be much more concerned about are all these so-called
"fat-burner" quick-fix, fad supplements that are everywhere. The ingredients that they contain should be cause for concern, and add to that the fact
that the typical person who uses these things are going to self-administer mega-doses, in the belief that if one pill is good, then two is better, and ten is
optimal. Every once in a while you read articles about a young, healthy person dying from no known cause, until it is found out that they were taking huge
amounts of various weight-loss, fat-burner supplements.

it seems to me that whenever a substance DOES do something they take it off the shelves (ephedren,Andro) the stuff that does nothing they let the public go
wild on it. My attitude (after gettin jipped many times as a kid) is that if its non prescription it non effective. And there aint no way I'm ever going to
use a prescription drug to advance my weight training

Hi JGriff, I know we've covered this before in the forum, but I still get a kick- and sometimes feel like kicking myself- when I think back about all of
the supplements that I wasted my money on in the past. Inosine, gamma, dibencozide, smilax, and a whole host of other junk. All I know is that a lot of
supplement manufacturers made a lot of money off me and many other natural lifters looking for that "super supplement" that would work as good as
steroids. Oh well, live and learn.

I'm with you on that!!! the only change,I think,is that some of those fat burners and cardio improvement supplements can be dangerous to some. The junk I
used to get was only dangerous to my wallet!!!!!

Oh to be able to go back to the good ol' days and pick up a can of 1,000 desiccated liver tablets!

Back to the days of Marathon's 2500mg liver tabs and 2000mg aminos.

Or the M-E-M milk, egg, and meat protein. Made with pineapple enzymes. I still remember gulping down those drinks and driving to Bruno's for a workout. I
used to use the Marathon livers, but I always had a soft spot in my heart for the original livers. I remember when I first started using them Larry recommended
starting with about 20 per day and then gradually working up to about 100 per day. I never got up that high--I think the most I ever built up to was about 50
per day, and that was a lot. But the other day, I went to the vitamin shop and purchased a package of vitamin/mineral paks that were so popular back in the
day.

That M-E-M pineapple protien was THE most god awful stuff ever. Larry would swear by it, but it actually made me puke the first time I had it.
