So after a 14 year "retirement" from full powerlifting meets, last weekend, I did one. I went without any "pre-meet training" to speak of,
just regular workouts. Did S-475, B-325(missed 340) D-565. Felt real good to be on the platform again, although didn't miss the "ran over by a
bus" feeling the next day.

Good going. You put up some plates and enjoyed doing it.

Nice going. Natch. Where was the meet? Did you use a suit/wraps or did you go "raw?" Way to keep the spirit of Bruno's alive and well.

Meet was in Tribes Hill NY, about 40 miles west of Albany on I-90. I wore an old Inzer suit, that I have had for years. Single ply poly, that I could get on
myself, and my original Inzer blast shirt from back in the Bruno's days. "I have heard about those old shirts, but I never saw one" was on
comment, "Did you steal your gear from the Smithsonian" was another. I didn't care. I wanted to lift, and I did. I had a great time doing the
meet. I wasn't worried about placing and didn't care that just about everyone there was wearing double ply poly/denim hybrid suits with Kevlar
stitching and open back double extreme shirts. I was told that my 475 squat would be 675 by wearing the fancy suit. I told them that I was too old fashioned,
and like lifting in my old stuff, but thank you anyway. If I can drop about 30 pounds or so before the next meet October 17, I might be able to fit into my old
marathon suit from 1989. Over all I was happy with the day. I lifted well, actually better than I expected, and met a lot of really good people. Everyone was
pulling for each other and helping each other out...The way it should be. Natch

I guess the idea of lifting without the fancy equipment would be like speaking a forein language. Are you definitely going to lift in October? Where will that
meet be?

Yeah, pretty much. I am planning on doing the meet in October, and my wife didn't say no, yet, so I will plan as if I am going. I am off that weekend from
work, so that isn't an issue. It is also in Tribes Hill NY. I don't want to post the organisation, since they don't do any testing. They do have
raw, single ply, and "if you got it, bring it" divisions. I asked them about a tested division, and they said the were "looking into it, but it
might be too expensive".

Change in plans. Due to my wife's work and the kids soccer schedule, I will not be doing the meet in October. I did find a meet December 6th, that I want
to go to. It is Lifetime drug free, is really tested and single ply ply gear only. Should be an even playing field.

Right..."should be"....But lets face facts..I'm old and fat now and if I total 200 pounds less than my past best, I would be happy. I am going to
have fun, and do my best, and let the chips fall where they may. At least there will be no double canvas, with triple briefs and 9ft long mega-wraps.
