Longdog, I don't know how it is in the UK, but here in the US there are over 30 different sanctioning federations for powerlifting. They all require a "one piece lifting suit". It doesn't have to be a supportive type suit, and you can go "raw" and wear a wrestling singlet if you want to. I am not trying to start a raw vs. equipped debate here.....there are way too many other sites that already beat that to death. Personally, I do train raw, but as a meet gets close, I add wraps and briefs. I wear the suit maybe for the last 3 weeks or so, since the suit does change your groove. I also wear only single ply poly stuff....no double/triple layer, no canvas or denim. With the exception of one shoulder strap, I can get all of my gear on myself, so it isn't even very tight. I am sure it is a mind thing, I like the snuggness of the suit. Since it is what would be considered loose, I am not "getting" much from it.
