I know it's a little bit late, but a Happy Memorial Day to all those who have served and defended our country. To those who have made the Supreme Sacrifice, we owe them a debt we can never adequately repay. I heard a nice quote from a local radio DJ- he said that "We are the home of the free BECAUSE of the brave." What a nice way of putting it. Incidentally, I saw an interesting program on the local PBS channel last night, it was about military cemeteries in foreign countries. Eight countries, mostly in Europe, have cemeteries with our fallen servicemen and women. What was particularly touching was how the locals honor those who are buried there. Especially the older people who were alive during WWII. But the local children are also taught from an early age about the sacrifice that our soldiers made in saving the continent. Very touching. The program showed a couple of men from Belgium who learned the Star Spangled Banner and who sing it in Flemish.
