World Cup? I can't wait not to watch it! Sorry, but I never followed soccer ( or football as our friends across the pond refer to it.) All I know about soccer is one, don't bet on the USA because we usually suck, and, two, there are ususally some nice fights/brawls in the stands. Plus, it has those crazy announcers ( GOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!) For those who follow the sport, enjoy!

that goal that England gave up was horrible (don't even have to be a fan to know that much). That goalie may have to go into hiding. The worst part about all of it is those noise makers everyone has. I can't stand it even thru the TV. I can't imagine there is a strategy to that game,it seems like both sides just kick the ball at the others end and eventually someone,by accident, ends up near the net and scores. I think that announcer who scream score for a week after each goal is gone.

Those horns are the talk of the cup so far. All of the local papers and newscasts are covering these horns- vuvuzelas or something like that. Apparently, they are a part of the local culture but the players say they are distracting. If it's part of the local tradition, then I guess they'll stick around. BTW, yesterday I went to get a haircut, the barber was talking about the world cup, he wanted to know what I thought about Brazil's chances of winning the whole thing--- boy did he pick the wrong person to ask. I know nothing about soccer, and all I know about Brazil is coffee and bikini waxing.

I hear ya Jim. All I know about Brazil is that they make pretty good supermodels. Soccer has come a long way in America since we were kids, but I don't think I'll ever jump on board. It grew in popularity because its a cheap sport for parents (no equipment for the most part). Bottom line its BORING. No offense to our international forum members. Just my opinion,if you like it go crazy!!!! Those horns suck!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wondering how long it will take for those horns to start selling here in the States? SOMEBODY has to have figured out a way to make money off those things. I don't really mind the noise--maybe the horns will keep the hooligans away. But, then again, the best part about some of these soccer matches are the brawls that break out in the stands. I realize it isn't sporting to say this, but on the other hand, the only reason I would have to watch nascar or other auto racings is the horrific crashes. Why else would I want to watch a bunch of guys driving 500 miles in a circle?

the hooligans are the ones blowin in the dam things!!!! Americans,by nature are violent lol thats why a peaceful game like soccer doesn't take off(and also why everyone likes the brawls in the stands) Nascar is another thing that is hard to figure out but has a fanatical following. And has also grown in leaps and bounds the last few years. I like the quarter mile racing a little. Maybe people in the U.S.A are getting a little sick of the mainstream sports, hence the popularity of MMA,golf, and the other mentioned sports that have grown popular the last few years. I'll still take an American football game every day of the week!!!!! or a Yanks/Sox game over any of the in vogue right now sports. GO CELTS!!!!!!!

John- Every once in a while a sports channel will some rugby or Australian rules football. Pretty cool to watch- plus it looks like one TOUGH sport. Like JGriff said, nascar and golf are huge right now ( and with tiger woods's problems, the popularity of golf will only increase.)

Rugby is a whole different story. Not that it is extremely exciting, but it certainly is rough and tough enough. Those guys hammer away at each other pretty good.
